The Lake Superior Watershed Conservancy (LSWC) brings together people and communities who respect and have a passion for Lake Superior and want to protect it.

LSWC’s mission is to inspire and empower people and communities to protect the Lake Superior freshwater ecosystem. Our vision is a healthy Lake Superior Watershed sustained through basin-wide initiatives for future generations.

LSWC currently owns three ecological preserves on the eastern side of Lake Superior. We offer a way to ensure habitat preservation in the watershed through direct ownership through land trusts or conservation easements.

Our most significant project to date has been to oversee and implement the Lake Superior Water Trail (LSWT) as part of the Trans Canada Trail and to create an international trail connecting the water trails encircling Lake Superior.

The LSWT is 1000 km long, and has 16 access points created in partnership with local communities and organizations. These access points have amenities such as EZ-docks, outhouses, and signage that includes information about the trail, and the local area. Available amenities vary depending on the location.

You can help us further our work by donating today. We spend a lifetime caring for our loved ones while we are alive, and after we are gone. Providing a legacy of clean water and conserving wilderness for our children and grandchildren is a gift as valuable as life itself. Donate today.
